Self Committed
03:21
|
|||
Long refusal to shed my skin
Self committed and locked within
Feigning a grin in hopes you’ll leave
Disarming smile I hope deceives you
Hiding away
Hardened heartstrings and shuttered eyes
Pains unspoken, but free with lies
Easy disguise for one afraid
To face the world and walk unaided
I know I’m running from you, but it’s not you that I hate
If only I were alone, maybe I could escape
In isolation I scream, cry for freedom from me
But everywhere that I turn, I’m still there
Overcome now with loneliness
Full of absence and emptiness
Time to address the ache inside
To turn around, come out of hiding
I know I’m running from you, but it’s not you that I hate
If only I were alone, maybe I could escape
In isolation I scream, cry for freedom from me
But everywhere that I turn, I’m still there

Lost
02:57
|
|||
Endless searching; I’ve been lost for so long
Chasing every echo of a half remembered song
Ever elusive, it dances just beyond my reach
Evanescent, yet so clear
Once again to disappear
Heavy heartache; has it all been in vain,
My determination only causing needless pain?
Union refused me, and silence greeting every cry
Why can I not let it go,
This malaise of hopeless woe?
It’s as near as a shadow gliding past me on the wall
A breath upon my shoulder
Fragrance on the wind
Laughter in the trees
Sudden stillness; there’s a voice in my heart,
Speaking to the agony that tears my soul apart
“Hold on to me now, and I will give your heart’s desire;
I will bid your strivings cease
Come away and be at peace
Home is here with me.”

I Am Near
02:38
|
|||
Rest in me, child whom I love; I am forever with you
Calm your fears, show me your wounds; healing and grace I’ll give you
Through every season of struggle, through present darkness and fear
Through the ache that weighs on your soul, I am near
Rest a while, sleep without fear; I will protect your slumber
Dawn will come; strength will return, poured out in generous measure
Through every season of struggle, through present darkness and fear
Through the ache that weighs on your soul, I am near, holding you close, so dear
Through every season of struggle, through present darkness and fear
Through the ache that weighs on your soul, I am near, holding you close, so dear
Rest in me, child whom I love; I am forever with you

Discontented
03:33
|
|||
The eye has never seen and not desired
No pleasure unpossessed, but deemed required
I cannot own it all
But can’t ignore the siren call
That cries out with craving again
The gains of greedy hands demand a toll;
The bleeding of a discontented soul
I wish that I could leave
A thousand half loves all bereaved
That one heart might heal and be whole
Child, let it go; holding on brings only woe
Child, give release; only then will there be peace
I leave behind the glimmerings of gold
To gaze on wealth more worthy to behold
A wrench to turn away
But better far than here to stay
Succumbing to ashes and cold
Child, let it go; holding on brings only woe
Child, give release; only then will there be peace
Child, let it go; holding on brings only woe
Child, give release; only then will there be peace
The eye has never seen and not desired
No pleasure unpossessed, but deemed required
I cannot own it all
But can’t ignore the siren call
That cries out with craving again

Song of Good Friday
04:47
|
|||
A bloody sight beneath a blackened sky; a rattled breath before a final sigh
So twisted and so broken to the eye, the man whom all men cried to crucify
“King of the Jews” the placard read above, a king bereft of subjects, rule and love
A thorny wire pressed deeply with a shove where Holy Spirit rested like a dove
Blood moon arose to see an empty shell, skin growing pale as scarlet droplets fell
Weeping and crying bid a last farewell; the stone denying entry to his cell
This awful death was called his victory, the murdered God-man hanging from a tree
Though so obscene, accepted willingly, enduring punishment due unto me
Somehow this brutal death declared our worth, hope from the grave gave life to stillborn birth
This day of hate and pain that swallowed mirth, the day of new beginning on the earth
The day of new beginning on the earth
